Steph was back in town at the start of May – I was able to convince her to humour me and venture out for a shoot to a location I stumbled on and wanted to play with a few days before on a walk. This was a shoot just for me, something I want to do a bit more of this year, just go out and shoot and play around. It was a fun time as there was no real time constraint, no real deadline to hit, etc.
I posted a sneak peek of this on the Curt O’Neil Photographer Facebook page and a friend mentioned how she overheard two mom’s talking about their kids seeing us during this shoot and them calling Steph Barbie. Which is always fun to hear; especially for Steph… HELLO EGO! But really… did the kids just think she was hanging out on some rocks by herself? Did they not see me risking life, limb and being splashed in the face all for the sake of art? Why weren’t they saying: “Hey mom! Is that Paul Bunyan out there on the rocks?!?! Wait maybe it’s Ali Baba!” and then their dad will come out of nowhere and say “Actually I think that’s Playoff Zdeno Chara!” and then they all run out into the water and ask for my autograph. Kids and their imaginations these days.
Anyway here’s some fun shots from a session Steph didn’t know she was doing 12 hrs beforehand – surprise!
