Sault Ste. Marie has just completed a three day Battle of the Bands where the winning band received the right and honour of opening for Kiss when they play the Sault in two weeks. One of my favourite local (and touring) bands Lion Ride were playing the event and I couldn’t resist bringing my camera along for the it.
My actual start in photography was shooting live bands locally. Doing this I’ve met many great friends and have been fortunate enough to hear some great music. I like to think that even though I don’t shoot that many live band events like this anymore that I bring the same rocking performance mentality to my shoots.
Lion Ride put on amazing show during the round robin and final round of the battle coming up just short finishing as runner-up. I have yet to see a band put on a live show the way Lion Ride does – they throw every bit of energy they have into their performance from start to finish. If you ever get the chance to see them perform live don’t miss it.
Amazing show guys – keep your heads up and just keep rocking and being awesome.
The first two shots are from their first round performance with the rest from the final night. I’ll have some more shots up of a couple of the other bands including the winner Garden of Bedlam.
