I’m going to say Charlotte was part of my good luck charms that helped propel the Green Bay Packers to the Super Bowl! In case you didn’t know, the Packers won the Super Bowl on Sunday. My other “charms” were my playoff beard and my old Packer hat – we bought a new one when we were in Green Bay (exact same hat) but I didn’t switch out midseason – that’s bad.
Charlotte’s first birthday party was on the same day/time as the Packers first playoff game. Because I’m a really awesome guy (and also own a PVR) I let Sara know that I’d do the shoot but a cone of silence about the game must be constructed anywhere that I would be. We had hoped that Charlotte would be your typical one year old and smash her face into her cake but she ate it like a lady. She would pinch pieces off of the cake and eat them, if anything fell on her shirt she’d pick them up and eat those. It took her quite some time to get dirty but she eventually got there. Before the cake we brought her to her room for her own mini photo session but she took the old adage of “it’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to” and ran with it. I still love her reaction in the shots.
