Kristy was the maid-of-honour in Rachel and Ryan’s funtastic wedding, her brother it turns out plays on the Beards slo-pitch team. The connections were put together over the summer and shows how everyone in and around the Sault generally gets connected. And just to add Graham to the equation we played soccer against each other growing up. For Kristy and Graham’s engagement shoot we went to her parent’s place just north of Thessalon which is east of Sault Ste Marie. From there we stole Ryan’s (Kristy’s brother) couch from the garage and used it outside before he was able to take it out to his camp.
Talking with Ryan a few days before the shoot I knew of some locations at the house, one that intrigued me was their own personal “sugar shack” where they made maple syrup growing up. Now me being naive I assumed that this sugar shack was a building, filled with sugar candy and goodness and was more than willing to end the session there. After about a 20 minute hike through a mud and rain soaked path we arrived at the shack. The sugar part of the name was just a tease. Picture a horror movie that happens in the woods, now picture the place that the ax murderer brings his victims, this is the sugar shack. The fact we reached it after the sun went down didn’t make matters any better.
